The
Harley Shop, Inc. began as "B & W Harley" in 1976 and was
located at 412 North High Street, in Longview Texas. In 1980 Keith
Calhoun, Jeff Brown, and David Wilson purchased the dealership and
incorporated as "The Harley Shop".
Originally
the three owners and their wives ran the business and were its only
employees. In 1984, Keith and Jeff bought out David's shares in
the business and became its main principals. Jeff assumed the
responsibilities for the Service operation and Keith assumed the
position of General Manager. Gail uses her merchandising skills
for motor clothes and Sandy is in the administrative and accounting part
of the business. As motorcycling became more popular and the
Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Company experienced its resurgence in the
1980's the business grew and expanded. In 1997 the Longview
business moved across town to its location at 3400 North 4th
Street. In the spring of 2000, they opened a second location in
Nacogdoches, named Texas Thunder Harley-Davidson. As of March
2000, The Harley Shop employs over 20 people at the Longview location
and more than 10 at the location in Nacogdoches.
Keith,
Gail and Jeff are motorcycle enthusiasts. Keith and Gail enjoy
cruising and touring. Jeff is into drag racing and flat track
racing. Through dedication and hard work, they have turned their
love of Harley-Davidsons into a success.
